Borussia Dortmund v Real Madrid Betting Preview
Real Madrid will be looking for a good platform to try and push themselves forward to their 13th European final. For Borussia Dortmund, they are eying up a spot in a European final for just the second time. There may be more life in this one than people are expecting, after Borussia Dortmund took supremacy over Real Madrid when they met in the group stage. Jurgen Klopp’s men took four points off the La Liga side so they may well pose a threat. They have to take advantage in this first leg though and could well do, given the fact that Real Madrid’s form is terrible in Germany. Jose Mourinho’s men have been a strong front runner as outright winner of this season’s Champions League, and they will look to go better than last season, when they lost in the semi’s against Bayern Munich.

Borussia Dortmund v Real Madrid Recommended Bet:
Dortmund have to play in the first leg and post something positive to take back to the Bernabeu with them. Fortunately, Borussia Dortmund have been very good at home this season, having won all five of their matches in the Champions League there so far. In those five wins, they have scored ten goals in total and they have conceded just three. They came through a tough group too, beating both Real Madrid and Man City at home to claim top spot. In each of their last two home games in this season’s Champions League, they have scored three goals (against Shakhtar Donetsk and Malaga). Dortmund’s usually reliable shooting was a little off against Malaga in the quarter finals, but they managed to squeeze through. Two dramatic injury time goals in the second leg saw them manage to edge out the gutsy Spaniards. Dortmund are the outsiders of the final four, but they have shown a lot of promise that they can compete.

Jurgen Klopp’s men are now gunning for a hattrick of home wins against Spanish opposition this season, after their wins against Malaga and Madrid. Back in the 1997/98 Champions League season, the last time that Dortmund were in the semi finals, they were stopped by Real Madrid on that occasion. Dortmund’s Robert Lewandowski has been involved in 8 of their 19 goals scored this season in the Champions League, and that is a 42% contribution from him. The Bundesliga side really need him to show up. Dortmund’s home record against Spanish clubs is W5 D3 L2 and they need to build on that. Their two previous European semi finals produced a win against Manchester United and then that defeat against Real Madrid. For the highly respected Jurgen Klopp, this is his first Champions League semi final, while Madrid’s Mourinho is making his sixth appearance in the last four.

Real Madrid haven’t really produced anything too spectacular this season on the road to the semi’s. They won only half of their group stage games, and then stumbled their way past Manchester United in the round of sixteen. A strong home win over Galatasaray in the first leg of the quarter finals set them up well, cruising through to the semis even though they lost the second leg in Turkey. To some important stats; Real Madrid have failed to keep a clean sheet on the road this season in the Champions League, and their record in Germany comes under heavy scrutiny as well, as they have won only one of their 24 away games there. They are on a five match losing streak there too. In this year’s Champions League though, they have had more shots than any of the other semi finalists, and have scored the most goals in the competition. Cristiano Ronaldo has netted in each of his last five Champions League Matches. Madrid’s record in two-legged European competitions ties against German side is W11 L7.

How much will Real Madrid’s shocking record in Germany come into play? They have a decent amount of resiliency about them and it could be worth looking at a draw in this one. Pushing the boat out a little bit, a 1-1 Correct Score  looks an attractive proposition at a price of 13/2 with online bookmaker Ladbrokes.
