July 22nd, 2013 / leeHibs v Malmo Betting PreviewÂ
Things didn?t go so well for Scottish side Hibs in the second qualification round of the Europa League as it did for fellow Premier League side St Johnstone. Hibs, the Scottish FA Cup runners up, were beaten 2-0 out in Sweden in the first leg and now have a big hill to climb if they are going to progress any further in this year?s competition.

Hibs v Malmo Recommended Bet: Â
There is a big reward for Hibernian if they can could just overturn this, they would get to have a shot at the English League Cup winners Swansea in the Europa League third round. However, given the evidence of the first leg, they are going to face a tough time in making that happen. The two goal deficit that needs to be overturned back at Easter Road, at least does set up an exciting second leg. Hibs were undone by two goals in the space of two minutes, both coming inside the first 13 minutes of the first leg. It was a start that Hibs just didn?t need, but they can take some positives from how well they persevered to get themselves into the game.
The Scottish Premier League side did hit the woodwork, but overall they just looked to lack the real penetration that they needed. They were second best through the middle of the park to Malmo, with the Swedes just looking sharper across the front line as well. Hibs dug in to produce a spirited performance, but the Swedes also missed some big chances to further extend their advantage, hitting the woodwork themselves. Malmo do have the advantage of being halfway through their domestic season, so they are match fit and they are match sharp, and that was telling at times. Hibs did look to be toiling through periods of the match, unable to match the pace of the Swedes.
The lack of an away goal could be the most costly factor in this one, but Hibs really didn?t threat to get one in the final third of the match. But still, if they come out strongly at Easter Road and nab an easy one, they could make things interesting. However, realistically, Malmo did look to have the extra edge and look capable of picking off an away goal back at Easter Road. The Swedes probably have enough to get themselves through this one. Swansea fans will be watching closely.
