Liverpool v Everton Prediction 5th May 2013
May 2nd, 2013 / leeLiverpool v Everton Betting Preview
A great Merseyside derby and the pressure will all be on the Toffees as they seek valuable points to try and squeeze their way into a European spot. Everton go into the game five points ahead of their bitter rivals, but for the Reds, the loss of Luis Suarez didn’t seem to affect them too much, as they thumped Newcastle with the banned Uruguayan. Will the Anfield crew be able to put a tha spanner in the works of Everton’s European dreams?

Liverpool v Everton Recommended Bet:
The Reds came to life in a big way last weekend in their first match without Suarez. A win over their rivals would take them to within two points of the Toffees on Sunday. Earlier in the season, Liverpool earned themselves a 2-2 draw at Goodison Park, taking a two goal lead in the match before being pegged back. Liverpool’s home form this season has seen them post a W8 D5 L4 record for the season. They have scored at an average rate of 1.88 goals per game, but of course, Suarez has been responsible for a lot of those. Defensively the Reds have looked pretty solid, conceding at a rate of under a goal per game at Anfield. Their current home form is standing up, unbeaten in their last four and just one defeat in their last seven. Interestingly, in the two matches they have played without Suarez this season, Liverpool have scored nine goals.
Three of their last four matches in the Premier League though have been draws and that may be a good route to go with your betting for this edition. Liverpool have lost only one of the last 12 Premier League Merseyside derbies now and so they do seem to have a bit of a grip on Everton. If David Moyes’ men want to keep their European hopes alive, they are going to need to buck a poor trend at Anfield. They have lost five of the last eight there and are without a win in a dozen Premier League trips to the home of their neighbours now. Everton for some reason have generally struggled when going up against the big four in the Premier League, something which has been holding them back. In 44 away matches against the big four, Everton have not recorded a win.
In their last 12 visit to Merseyside, Everton have posted a W0 D4 L7 record. Heading into the weekend, they are three points adrift of Spurs in fifth place, having played a game more already. Still, the Toffees have lost just one of their last eight in the top flight, but while their home form has been immaculate, they have struggled on the road. They are without an away win in their last six matches on the road now, drawing three and losing three. So they are in good standing, and they have failed to score in their last two on the road. Everton have a W4 D8 L5 record away from home in the Premier League this season, not great at all and another reason why a draw may be worth riding.
Everton have a great resiliency about them, but they can’t seem to find a way to beat Liverpool at Anfield in the Premier League. A draw really doesn’t sound like a bad option to roll with in this one at a price of 12/5 with online bookmaker Ladbrokes.
